Golden chain (Laburnum anagyroides)
Laburnum anagyroides, better known as Golden chain, is a small deciduous tree native to Europe. It can grow up to 7 meters tall and prefers well-drained, calcareous soil. It likes sunlight, but also tolerates light shade. In early summer, it is decorated with long, hanging clusters of yellow flowers. Its water requirement is moderate, it is drought tolerant. It is important to note that all parts are poisonous.
The weight of its wood at average dryness: 850 kg/m3 Hard wood, but it can be worked, carved and turned. The wood contains a poisonous toxin, so inhaling small amounts during processing can cause nausea, vomiting and headaches.
