Silver linden (Tilia tomentosa)
Tilia tomentosa, known as silver linden, is native to Southeast Europe and Western Asia. It can reach heights of 20-30 meters and prefers moderately fertile, well-drained soils. It loves sunlight but can tolerate partial shade. It features unique silvery leaves and fragrant flowers. Its water requirement is moderate. As a living tree, it is used ornamentally, while its timber is utilized for furniture and art pieces.
Its forest planting is considered due to its resistance to the extremes that are becoming more frequent with climate change.
The weight of its wood when air-dried is 535 kg/m3, it is used as lumber for furniture and carvings.
