White mulberry (Morus alba)
Morus alba, commonly known as white mulberry, is a deciduous tree native to Asia. It's widespread in Europe and North America. It can grow 10-20 meters tall. The tree adapts to various soil types, preferring deep, fertile, well-drained soils. It loves sunlight but can tolerate shade. Its water needs are moderate. The tree produces sweet, black or red fruits used for human consumption and animal feed. The wood is used in furniture making and other woodworking purposes. Its roots are beneficial in preventing soil erosion.
The weight of its wood when air-dried is 690 kg/m3, durable hardwood, good insect resistance. It can be shaped, carved and chipped well. They often make brandy barrels out of it.
